S4X uses special crossover circuitry to deliver phase-matched signals to the appropriate drivers when predetermined frequencies are reached. When these key frequencies (which deliver consonants like "S" & "C") aren't accurately presented, or are drowned out by lower frequencies, voices can sound muddy or unintelligible.
